Description

The temple was built during the early 13th century by Kulothunga Chola III, who is considered the last great Chola king. It was constructed as a memorial to commemorate his military victories, and it draws architectural inspiration from other notable Chola temples, including the Brihadeshwarar Temple in Thanjavur and the Airavatesvara Temple in Darasuram.
